My Roots, Our Future
I was born in Okinawa, Japan, on Kadena Air Force Base to a military family. We moved to rural New Mexico from Iceland before the military base was shut down. I have called New Mexico, especially rural New Mexico, home ever since.
I started my professional career as a professional tutor with Clovis Community College in mathematics and science. Though I was tutoring subjects from K-College, I aimed at at-risk community students, such as single teen mothers and emancipated minors. I tutored at the college and within the public schools, assisting teachers with students to catch them up on the curriculum.
After graduating from Eastern New Mexico University with my BSc in biology (minor in chemistry, emphasis in medicine), I entered the private sector as an inventory auditor for an oil and gas business. Shortly after, I joined the Eastern Plains Council of Governments as a transportation planner, assisting the communities of Curry, Roosevelt, Union, De Baca, Quay, Guadalupe, and Harding counties with transportation planning and securing more than $30M in transportation infrastructure funding. In 2020, I was promoted to Deputy Director and have helped with many projects since:
- Assisted with securing $4M in behavioral health money for Curry, De Baca, Guadalupe, and Roosevelt counties
- Assisted with securing $1M in behavioral health money for Union County General Hospital
- Secured money for San Jon's Route 66 project
- Assisted with securing $900,000+ in federal money for a transportation safety action plan for Union, Quay, De Baca, Roosevelt, and Harding counties
- Secured more than $30M in transportation infrastructure funding
- Developing local comprehensive plans
- Advocate for policies to benefit rural New Mexico
- and more.
My heart has always been in public service, being that I have more than 15 years worth of non-profit and public service. I dedicate my heart and soul to my community by volunteering in multiple capacities:
- former secretary to Clovis Main Street Board of Directors
- former Board of Director for United Way of Eastern New Mexico
- Commissioner for the Clovis Planning & Zoning Commission (former chairman)
- board member of ARISE Sexual Assualt Services
- former board member to the Salvation Army Board of Advisors
- former secretary of the Clovis NAACP Branch
- former state chair for the elections supervisory committee of NAACP
- former Director-at-Large for the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce
- former Honorary Command Chief for Cannon Air Force Base
- and more.
I come from a family of public servatude, from military to public service, and I plan to continue that service. I enjoy helping my communities with all my heart and soul, and I believe I can continue to serve my communities as State Represenative. I would be honored to be your State Represenative, and will always look forward to serving rural New Mexico and rural America. A vote for me will be and investment for you. It will be an investment in you and your community! Invest in you!
